Community

At St Joseph's we believe that, as well as teaching our students to respect themselves and others, that an important part of being a well rounded member of society is to have a social conscience, to think outside of their own needs and to have an interest and empathy for others in the community.

Hence our students are encouraged, within school and outside of, to be involved in community groups, initiatives and events.  One community event the children have loved being a part of is the annual Clutha Country Christmas Parade.

Young Vinnies

Our senior school further model our values through our Young Vinnies programme.  Working with teachers and parent volunteers the children find ways in which they can help service their community.  Such previous projects have included making and delivering frozen meals to those in need, food drives for the local food bank, and raising funds for charities such as Unicef.

“To have children taking the initiative to help others is very humbling”.
